Eagles Andy Reid Mcnabb NFL Draft Defense Macklin Westbrook SuperbowlPublished: April 29, 2009
The Jets have released Brett Favre from the reserve-retired list, effectively allowing the future Hall of Famer to sign with any team.
Despite Favre claiming he has no intention to play, there are instantly thoughts and rumors swirling about.
Could Favre be Minnesota bound?
After not addressing the quarterback position in the draft, the Vikings are stuck with the winner of a Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosanfels match-up. If Favre were available, why go through the pain of seeing one of these guys win at something.
As for Favre, after once admitting he partially came back to “spite” Ted Thompson, this could be the perfect situation for him to take advantage of.
Favre no longer has anything holding him back, so until the Vikings kick off the season without him under center, this remains a real possibility.
As unlikely as it would be for Favre to un-retire for a second time, it remains too much of a coincidence that the Vikings didn’t draft a quarterback in the NFL Draft this past weekend, while Favre asked for his release only about a month ago.
If Favre doesn’t intend on playing with another team in 2009, then why would he request his release?
This is a fair question, and something tells me we’ll soon be learning more about it.
