Eagles Andy Reid Mcnabb NFL Draft Defense Macklin Westbrook SuperbowlPublished: April 26, 2009
Amidst all the draft buzz and infatuation with everyone’s next top prospect, some disturbing news has leaked out of the NFL’s offices regarding conversations to play a Super Bowl in London.
NFL officials have confirmed that there have been legitimate discussions to hold the Super Bowl in London.
While the next three locations for the big game have been established, it’s possible that London will play host to an unofficial American holiday within the next five years.
“We’ve spoken on what it would take to host and for us to bring it over,” said events vice-president Frank Supovitz to the BBC, speaking in New York City a day before the NFL Draft will take place there.

With the first and second rounds of the 2009 NFL draft complete here is a synopsis of the first ten players selected overall this year.
1. Detroit Lions – Matthew Stafford – QB – Georgia
As reported Friday evening, the Lions chose Stafford first overall and inked him to a lucrative six year deal, which includes 41.7 million dollars in guaranteed money. If Stafford can meet all the stipulations of his contract, he’ll make up to 78 million overall.
Detroit is in a major rebuilding phase, after becoming the first team to go 0-16 in league history last season. The Lions hope to groom Stafford into a franchise quarterback, something they arguably haven’t been in possession of, since Bobby Lane led them to three straight league championships over five decades ago. The Detroit media has already exploited the fact that Lane and Stafford both ironically attended Highland Park High School in Dallas.

I love football history. I love reading about it, writing about it, and learning about it. I have a whole slew of players from the Eagles that I would have loved to see play–Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Eric Allen, Randall Cunningham, and Seth Joyner. But if there was one player throughout NFL history that I [...]

At any level of competition, basketball is all about trust. How well do you trust yourself, your teammates, your system? Despite having superior talent, the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t trust their offense, while the Utah Jazz trusted their bench and their two main superstars. That difference in belief was the reason behind Utah’s 88-86 game three victory over Los Angeles.

Kobe Bryant went 5-24 from the field today as the Lakers’ blew a 13 point lead to the Jazz and showed me why they aren’t a lock to win the title. There is no doubt that the Lakers’ have the most athletically gifted team in the league. However, athletic ability can only take a team so far. They are most likely still going to beat the Jazz this round, but all the signs are pointing to a possible Lakers’ choke.

One player wants traded, and another is apparently being shopped around.
While Sheldon Brown has come out and said he wants to be traded, word is that the Eagles have no intention on trading him. However, they may be interested in trading Shawn Andrews.

ESPN’s Micheal Smith is reporting that the Atlanta Falcons have just traded for tight end Tony Gonzalez for a second-round pick in 2010.

With the draft less than two days away, it’s starting to look like the Seattle Seahawks might have a good chance of trading down from the fourth pick overall.
Although multiple polls show receiver Michael Crabtree to be the fan favorite for the Seahawks’ pick at No. 4, Aaron Curry has to be the guy if he’s available. The Wake Forest linebacker is the safest, surest pick in this draft and would fill an immediate need for Seattle, which surprisingly traded Julian Peterson last month.

With the draft less than five days away everyone is anxiously waiting to see how their team will save or sink their franchise. Take a look at how the first round will shake-out (sans trades), let me know if you like your team’s pick, and don’t be surprised if a few players slip, even out [...]

Blog Buzz is a new segment that runs live on Sports Center, and were very proud that our own writer Bob Cunnigham got his article featured on it.
Here is the quote that was displayed on Blog buzz:
“Madden was a constant butt of many, many jokes; however, when it came right down to it, no one knew more than Mr. John Madden. He’s a living legend.”
