Eagles Andy Reid Mcnabb NFL Draft Defense Macklin Westbrook SuperbowlPublished: March 28, 2009
Who ever heard of a perfect athlete crying? Well, me. I don’t know if I’m breaking some forbidden mold by writing this, but in my book, the perfect athlete isn’t afraid to shed tears—to have streams of emotion pour from his/her eyes, in both happiness and sorrow. For, undeniably, hidden far beneath the frustrating layers [...]

I hear a lot of fans criticize Andy Reid and the way he does things in Philly. Mainly his stoic ways and very political press conferences.
But when we really look at it, do us fans care about press conferences… at all? Do we really need to hear why Reid thinks we lost or what he thinks about the opposing defense? Would we agree with him anyway? If you’re being truthful as an Eagles fan, you know you wouldn’t.

5. San Diego Padres-
Sure they were the third worse team in the majors last season but they have a nice top of the rotation in 2007 Cy Young winner Jake Peavy and Chris Young.
Peavy is a true elite ace on one of the worst franchises of the MLB. He has one Cy Young award, led the league in ERA and Strike-outs and has been the heart of many trade rumors across the Major Leagues.
Not to be confused with the rival Arizona Diamondback’s outfielder, Chris Young has been a top starter for years, except for the first half of 2008.

You can be the best wide receiver in the league. But if the quarterback/center mess up the exchange, or the offensive line makes a protection error, or if the running back doesn’t pickup the blitz correctly, or the quarterback flat-out sails the ball on you, all the talent in the world will not yield results of any merit whatsoever.
This synergy is what makes football so unique, with either far-reaching success or abject failure, depending on the ability of those 11 players to create an output far greater than the simple sum of their parts.
This synergy would explain why a Cowboys team with 14 Pro Bowlers didn’t make the playoffs, and an Atlanta team with a rookie quarterback and nowhere near the star power out of an equally-competitive division did.

Every time we see a minor league pitcher throw a shutout, fan ten, hit two home runs in one game, or drive in five, we immediately picture them as future major league stars. But as optimistic and enthusiastic as baseball fans and analysts may be, the reality of the situation is far too grim.
In actuality, less than 15% of minor leaguers will become major league players, and out of this slim number, less than 5% will go on to become stars.

The Eagles have 12 picks in the upcoming draft, with two of them in the first round, picks 21 and 28. Mark my words: the Eagles will not be selecting two players in the first round.
While talking to NFL.com anonymously, several GMs around the NFL have said that during their grading period of this year’s prospects, that only 20 to 22 of them are first-round quality.

As folks arrived in Dana Point, Calif., Sunday for the NFL owners’ meetings, Peter King of Sports Illustrated observed:
“I think it’s a strange sight, and definitely a changing-of-the-guard sight, to come to a league meeting and not see Mike Holmgren, Mike Shanahan, Jon Gruden, Herman Edwards…Changing-of-the-guard time, folks.”
Oh, but for how long, Peter? All of those guys, plus Bill Cowher, are expected to be in play for NFL jobs again in 2010; and with such a bunch of power brokers expected to be available, many franchises figure to put their current coaches on short leashes in 2009.

Baseball is essentially a money game these days. Sure, it is possible to win without a huge payroll, but it is tough to come by.
In this article, I looked at the players themselves, not the teams, and their choices to sign with certain teams taking a large contract, instead of signing with more winning teams for a lesser contract.
Essentially, I am naming three players who to me have proved that they care more about the money than winning and the love of the game.

The Eagles have a couple big needs going into 2009, while the Chiefs have a couple big names they may like to ship out. Chiefs and Eagles? They’re a perfect match.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell plans to present a proposal to owners around the league about the possibility of expanding the NFL regular season to 17 or 18 games. He believes there is no need to hold four preseason games and the proposal would be beneficial toward the league and their fans.
An extra regular-season game or two means a longer NFL season. Some fans and players may be satisfied with this decision. However, there may be a handful of fans and players who may be unhappy with this decision.
